Mr. Collins' Parents Don't Want Him To Get An Apartment, But...

M: My parents have really been getting on my nerves lately.
B: Oh yeah? How come?
M: They're always bugging me about stuff.
B: Like what?
M: Everything! Stuff I should be doing, stuff I shouldn't be doing, stuff they want me to do but I don't want
to, stuff I want to do but they don't thinkg I should...everything.
B: Yeah, I think it's that way with everybody.
M: You too?
B: Sure. Parents are just like that. My parents were always getting on my about something. So finally one day I just decided I needed to have my own space. My parents' house just wasn't big enough, so I decided I had to live on my own.
M: So how did you break the news to your parents?
B: I knew there was no way they'd agree, so I just told them straight out. They were against it, of course. They were like, "You can't even keep up with your studies now!" I said, "What have my studies got to do with getting an apartment?
M: Yeah.
B: My dad said, "Because we're nto going to pay for and apartment! So you'll have to pay your own rent, and that means getting a full time job. Now how in the world are you going to work and pass your classes, when you can't even pass them now? I was like, "I don't know, but I'll just do it somehow." Mom said, "I think you should concentrate on passing your classes and graduating, and then you can get an apartment.
M: Sounds reasonable. So did you cave in?
B: Nope. I stood my ground. I told them that with or without their help, I felt that I had to move out.
M: So did they cut you off financialy?
B: For a while. My dad, especially, tried to be firm. But my Mom couldn't abandon her baby. I worked part time and paid what I could, and Mom paid the difference.
M: Moms are such softies.
B: Aren't they though?
